Stockholmradio - VHF!

If you are sailing in Swedish waters, carrying a VHF-equipment in your vessel, communication ship-to-shore is never a problem.

  • The entire coast line is covered by our more than 50 VHF-bases - from the Norwegian border in Skagerrak, up to the Finnish border in the northern Bay of Bothnia - including the sea around island Gotland and the lakes Vaenern, Vaettern, Maelaren and Hjaelmaren.
  • All VHF-bases are remotely controlled from STOCKHOLMRADIO.
  • All VHF-bases are equipped with channel 16.
  • With some minor exception, all VHF-bases are also equipped with one or more traffic channels.
  • Irrespective of the name of the local VHF-base, the only "callsign" to be used is: "STOCKHOLMRADIO".
  • A look at the VHF-map below shows the specific traffic channel on each VHF-base. But if uncertain, you may always call STOCKHOLMRADIO on channel 16, after which you will be assigned a free traffic channel.
  • Traffic lists are broadcast every 4 hours:
    0200, 0600, 1000, 1400, 1800, 2200 (UTC)
  • Weather forecasts in English are broadcast at:
    0600 and 1800 (UTC)
