Service area
It is impossible to define the exact boundaries of HF coverage. However, experience has shown that we cover a sector from NE Canada across the Atlantic, the European continent, the Mediterranean, Africa, the Middle East ranging eastward just beyond India, with a high degree of reliability.
The majority of our contacts are from within this sector, but we can certainly communicate with aircraft also in other parts of the world, however not as reliably at all hours.
NOTE: Other stations may claim they provide world-wide/global HF coverage. However without an extremely expensive global network of slave-transmitters/ receivers/antenna facilities spread out across the continents, that is due to geographical limitations and geomagnetic/solar/ionospherical conditions simply not feasible.
Stockholm Radio - as any station working in the HF-band – from time to time establishes HF-contacts with flights far away in the southern hemisphere or over the Northern Pacific, that is why we call it the Occasional Coverage area.
For the sake of avoiding false advertising, we have chosen not to declare our coverage-area as wider than could be expected on a regular basis i.e. areas 1 and 2 above.basis.
